The small parts
that keep totes
in service.

Most totes don't die of old age — they die because a $4 gasket got stiff. We stock the small parts that make IBCs last decades, not years.

Replacement schedules

When to swap each wear part.

Every 1–2 years

The fast wear items

  • Cap gasket (outdoor totes)
  • Outlet gasket (high-cycle dispensing)
  • Cam-lock dust caps (lost or cracked)
  • Vented cap insert (if blocked or cracked)
Every 3–5 years

The medium wear items

  • Cap gasket (indoor totes)
  • Outlet gasket (low-cycle storage)
  • Ball valve seat (if leaking or stiff)
  • UV cover (if outdoors)
  • Pump diaphragms (transfer pumps)
Every 7–10 years

The slow wear items

  • Complete ball valve assembly
  • Pallet (wood; composite lasts longer)
  • Manifold splitter (if used heavily)
  • Inline flow meters (recalibrate or replace)
Troubleshooting

Common problems and what fixes them.

Valve drips slowly when closed.
Almost always a worn EPDM seat in the ball valve. Replace the seat ($4) or the entire valve ($14–$22). If it's a new valve dripping, check that the outlet gasket is seated correctly.
Cap won't seal — leaks when tote is tipped.
Replace the cap gasket. If the gasket looks fine, check the cap threads for cross-threading damage. If the threads are damaged, replace the cap.
Tote "burps" in the sun and pushes liquid out the cap.
The cap is sealed (non-vented) and the contents are expanding with temperature. Switch to a vented cap or install a vent insert. For cold storage of warmed product, this resolves on its own.
Pump won't prime from the tote.
Check that the outlet valve is fully open. Check the inline filter (if installed) for blockage. If pump is submersible, check the float sensor isn't obstructed. If pump is external, verify suction hose is not collapsed and is fully submerged in tote liquid.
Outlet flow is slower than expected.
Check riser tube for sediment blockage. If contents are viscous, install a 3" outlet valve. If using cam-lock with a long hose, verify hose is rated for the flow rate (small-diameter hose chokes flow more than people expect).
Cam-lock is hard to disconnect.
Levers may be corroded. Clean and lubricate the cam-lock body with a food-safe silicone spray. If lever pins are bent, replace the cam-lock — they're cheap.
Flow meter reads zero on slow flow.
Most digital inline meters have a minimum flow threshold (often 2–5 GPM). Below that, they don't register. For very slow flow (gravity feed without head), use a paddle-wheel meter or a positive-displacement meter.

FAQ · Accessories & parts

What parts customers ask about most.

Will your replacement valve fit my Schutz / Mauser / Greif tote?
Yes, with very high confidence. The 2" S60×6 outlet thread is a global standard across all major composite IBC brands. The valve we sell will thread onto any standard IBC outlet. If you've got an exotic brand, send us a photo of the outlet and we'll confirm.
Do you sell individual gaskets or only in packs?
Both. Single gaskets ship for $4–$6 each. Packs of 10 ship for $28–$38. If you're running a fleet, a pack of 50 makes sense.
What pump should I use for moving water out of a tote with gravity-only feed?
Honestly, no pump if you can avoid it. A 4" riser tube plus a garden hose adapter on the outlet, combined with elevating the tote 12–18" off the ground, gives enough head pressure for most drip and gravity-feed applications. If you need real flow (above 10 GPM), a 12V submersible or an external transfer pump is the answer.
Will a UV cover meaningfully extend tote life outdoors?
Yes, dramatically. Uncovered HDPE in full Missouri sun starts chalking in year 2 and embrittling by year 4. A UV-blocking cover keeps the bottle visually and structurally fresh for 15+ years. The cover is roughly $35 and the tote is roughly $90 — easy math.
Can I install a heater on a tote?
Yes. Band heaters (240V wraparound) are the standard for keeping viscous liquids flowable in winter. They're sized to the tote diameter and require a thermostat (or you'll cook the contents). For freeze-protection only, a frost-break valve cover and an insulated tote jacket are usually enough and don't need power.
What's the minimum order on parts?
No minimum. We'll sell you a single gasket. Shipping economics start to favor you around a $30 order; below that, freight is a noticeable share of the total.
Do you stock everything you list?
Most of it — the common gaskets, valves, adapters, and pumps are on the shelf. Specialty items (Viton gaskets, band heaters, large-mouth caps) we order in as needed. Lead time on stocked items is next business day; on special-order, 5–10 days.
